URBAN
During COVID our definition of home changed.

Homes become our universe: our happy hour patios, offices, and respites. Located in South Minneapolis this addition to a classic Tudor provided the formal office and meeting space the family of four needed. A simple box of white fiber cement panels and horizontal word frame a void created by large glass. A whitewashed wood box creates structure for the open volume and organizes the two interior spaces between public and quiet office spaces. The building opens up to the backyard and is defined by similar architectural wood screens. The overall garden suite frames a private urban garden experience.

HOW THE AMERICAN HOME WORKS AFTER COVID.
A deep entry porch provides outdoor workspace and covered entry from the garage.
The modern addition projects beyond the original stucco home, opening to a private patio completely enclosed by the architecture.
The open space provides flexibility for meeting and living space. The white box seamlessly slides between inside and outside with dramatic LED downlights.
The office space can remain open to the larger space or shut off completely for quite Zoom meetings.
The overall design is simple white surfaces with textured wood. The private office bathroom is concealed behind a panelized door. Within energetic tile creates a surprising pop of color.
A simple skylight opens the shower to the sun, providing a unique and relaxing experience to the owner.
The scale of the home office is compact and simple. Warm tones of natural wood create a contrast elevating the historic stucco into a fresh modem home to enjoy and run a business.
